14/08/2022

Bruno Menezes, better known as 'Bruninho de Búzios' and Eduardo Oliveira, also known as 'Dudu', representatives of FC Carcavelos, were the big winners of the 6th stage of the 2022 National Footvolley Championship, played this weekend, 13 and 14th of August, in the municipality of Porto, more specifically in the magnificent sand stadium of Praia Internacional

After 2 days full of competition, spectacle and entertainment, the duo from Carcavelos, once again, made use of their favoritism, remembering they have five victories at this stage of the championship, as many stages as they participated, going through a great moment, they beat all the opponents they had in front of them and climbed once again to the highest place on the podium.

The 6th stage of the championship was attended by 25 teams/doubles, representing 11 clubs, from the north to the south of the continent, including from the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

On Saturday, August 13th, 17 teams competed, with the Silver Stage going on throughout the day, in a total of 32 games, with the first 4 places in the Silver Stage under discussion. Vitor Araújo / Marco Solino ( CD Póvoa), Diego Lopes / Pedro Vargas (AD Fafe), Júlio Alves / Nuno Marques (CD Póvoa) and Diogo Cavalcanti / João Alcântara Vieira (CT Alan Cavalcanti), in that order, guaranteed the passport to the Gold Stage.

The last day of the competition, Sunday, August 14th, with the Gold Stage on the agenda, began at 9:00 am, with 22 games to be played, to find the big winners of this 6th Stage of the Footvolley National Championship.

For the second year in a row, in the municipality of Porto and its famous Praia Internacional, on a day full of emotions, a lot of spectacle, audience and entertainment, before the most decisive moment there were 2 very disputed semi-finals, while in the first semi-final Bruno Menezes / Eduardo Oliveira (FC Carcavelos) only in the 'tie set' managed to overcome the double surprise of the competition, namely Diego Lopes / Pedro Vargas (AD Fafe), who despite trying to stay until the end were not able to continue due to physical reasons, finishing their participation to the eighth point of the 3rd set, with the partials of 18x11, 20x22 and 15x4. In the second semi-final Filipe Santos / Vitor Vilaça (CD Póvoa), showed class in the return to the championship and in 2 sets without answer they led to better against Ruben Santos / Alain Faccini (CT Alan Cavalcanti), the latter the Italian champion in title, winning by 18x12 and 18x13.

With the 2 finalist pairs known, it was important to know who would occupy the last places on the podium, however Diego Lopes / Pedro Vargas (AD Fafe) did not present themselves in the necessary physical conditions, the enormous effort spent in the Semi-Final ended up being decisive, "giving" their opponents Ruben Santos / Alain Faccini (CT Alan Cavalcanti) the third place.

In the game of all decisions, Bruno Menezes / Eduardo Oliveira (FC Carcavelos), despite the good replica of the Póvoa do Varzim duo, were once again very balanced in their game, defending well and attacking even better, they ended up beating Filipe Santos / Vitor Vilaça (CD Póvoa) in 2 sets with no response, namely with the partials 18x10 and 18x13.

In a joint organization of the Federação Nacional de Futevólei, the event had the main support of Câmara Municipal do Porto, Claw, SportsPartner, among other local partners.

The next stage, the seventh, takes place next weekend, 20th and 21st of August, with the Póvoa e Meadas dam playground, in Castelo de Vide, hosting the best footvolley for the second consecutive year.
