Juan Pinheiro/Rodrigo Otero and Alessandra Iungano/Bruna Gomes crowned 2026 national footvolley champions

Carvoeiro Beach hosted the 21st edition of the National Championship, in a final marked by great spectacle, a large crowd and the revalidation of the Politécnico do Porto men's title.


Carvoeiro Beach, in the municipality of Lagoa, was this weekend, 12 and 13 September, the stage for the Final Phase of the 21st National Footvolley Championship, which brought together the best national pairs in the sport.

The great winners of the competition were Juan Silva Pinheiro and Rodrigo Otero, representing Politécnico do Porto, in the men's category, and Alessandra Iungano and Bruna Gomes, representing PGCN Quinta Arena, in the women's category.

The event featured the participation of the 12 best men's pairs and the four best women's pairs in the country, for a total of 32 athletes from six clubs from north to south of the country, providing two days of great sporting spectacle in one of the Algarve's most iconic beach settings.

Politécnico do Porto revalidate national title

The men's competition got underway on Saturday with the Group Stage, followed by the Round of 16 and Quarter-Finals during the afternoon. On Sunday, the four qualifying pairs competed in the Semi-Finals, in an atmosphere marked by competitive balance and strong support from the crowd.

In the first semi-final, Beto Correia/Kleyber Silva, from CRD Santaluziense, and David Dias/João Alcântara, from Imortal DC, played one of the most evenly matched games of the competition. The match was decided only in the third set, with the Imortal DC pair winning 18-14, 16-18 and 17-15.

In the other semi-final, Rodrigo Otero/Juan Silva Pinheiro, representing Politécnico do Porto, faced Filipe Santos/Vitor Vilaça, from CD Póvoa. After another closely contested match, the Porto pair secured their place in the final, winning 18-15, 18-20 and 15-10.

In the battle for third place, Beto Correia/Kleyber Silva came out on top against Filipe Santos/Vitor Vilaça, winning 21-15.

The men's grand final brought together the defending national champions, Rodrigo Otero/Juan Silva Pinheiro, and the Imortal DC pair, David Dias/João Alcântara.

In a high-level match played in front of a completely packed stadium, the Albufeira pair made the better start and won the first set 18-16. The response from the Politécnico do Porto representatives was immediate: more secure defensively and effective in attack, Otero and Pinheiro won the second set 18-15, taking the decision to a third and final set.

With the title at stake, the two pairs produced a third set of great intensity. The Porto pair managed to take a slight advantage at the decisive moments and closed out the match 15-10, thus securing the 2026 National Footvolley Championship title.

With this victory, Rodrigo Otero revalidates the national title won in 2023, 2024 and 2025, securing his fourth consecutive national championship, while Juan Silva Pinheiro adds a third national title to his honours.

Alessandra Iungano and Bruna Gomes dominate women's competition

In the women's category, the competition began on Sunday morning with the Group Stage, followed by the Semi-Finals and the matches for the podium positions.

In the first semi-final, Bruna Gomes/Alessandra Iungano, from PGCN Quinta Arena, confirmed their status as favourites against their club teammates Júlia Vieira/Maria Cláudia Silva, winning 18-5 and 18-3.

In the other semi-final, Luisa Siqueira/Ágatha Salomão, from CRD Santaluziense, overcame Olivia Costa/Mariana Felisberto, from FC 11 Esperanças, by 18-12 and 18-15.

In the match for third and fourth place, Olivia Costa/Mariana Felisberto defeated Júlia Vieira/Maria Cláudia Silva, securing third place on the podium.

The women's final, played in front of a packed stadium, brought together Bruna Gomes/Alessandra Iungano and Luisa Siqueira/Ágatha Salomão.

The PGCN Quinta Arena pair confirmed their status as favourites and won the final in two sets, both 18-15, becoming the 2026 national footvolley champions.

Two days of great spectacle at Carvoeiro Beach

The 21st edition of the National Championship was also marked by a strong public presence throughout the two days of competition, creating a festive atmosphere and giving spectators the opportunity to watch the country's best athletes in the sport live.

The final stage brought the season to a close, following two FNFV100 stages and three FNFV100 Opens, taking footvolley to different parts of the country and consolidating the sport within the national sporting landscape.

The main moments of the competition were also broadcast via livestream worldwide, through the FutevoleiTV YouTube channel and the sport's official website.

Award ceremony with institutional presence

The award ceremony was attended by the president of the National Footvolley Federation, Carlos Coimbra, the mayor of Lagoa, Luís Encarnação, the president of the Union of the Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro, José Manuel Fernandes, and Ricardo Pinto, regional director of IPDJ.

Organised by the National Footvolley Federation, the National Championship received important support from the Municipality of Lagoa and several local partners, contributing to the recognition of Carvoeiro Beach as a privileged setting for major sporting events.
